What Strategic Pricing contributes to Cardinal Health

Strategic Pricing is responsible for developing, communicating and leading the execution of business strategy and customer profitability through pricing and value-capturing activities at both the strategic and tactical levels. Serves as an effective liaison with senior executive management, marketing, legal, finance, sales, and IT.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience with pricing processes, systems, and controls and implements as necessary.
  • Prepares, manipulates and extracts data and information from multiple internal and external sources and leverages to develop and execute pricing strategies
  • Demonstrates knowledge of customer deal economics, financial modeling techniques, and related pricing strategies.
  • Works effectively across functions such as IT, Marketing and Finance to design and implement new or enhancements to existing processes, systems, and tools.
  • Communicates effectively across the organization regarding profitization opportunities and key pricing insights.
  • Develops, communicates and monitors price recommendations and guardrails for deals and products by performing basic pricing analysis or leveraging and synthesizing advanced analytics of internal and external intelligence.
  • Develops, implements and maintains pricing programs designed to enhance pricing margin.


  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years experience in related field
  • prior supervisory experience

  • Develop pricing strategies for Presource kits and kit components that maximize profitability and ensure predictable, market competitive pricing through work with a cross-functional team
  • Manage a team of 4 pricing / finance professionals and ensure annual GP $ objectives are achieved via a variety of pricing initiatives
  • Support the Presource RFP and contract negotiation processes for GPO and IDN customers through development of kit pricing models, component pricing and contractual T&Cs
  • Develop and implement pricing performance indicators and diagnostics to identify potential pricing opportunities, measure impact of pricing decisions, and track performance of pricing initiatives
  • Ensure price increase opportunities are identified and executed efficiently in accordance with Presource business unit strategies
  • Develop and deliver tools and training to help drive understanding and execution of key pricing and profitability concepts
  • Provide pricing support for business unit initiatives, including ProcedureLink, “Best Cost” projects, standardization initiatives, etc.
  • Act as key strategic pricing liaison for several cross-functional teams, including finance, sales, sales operations, and marketing
  • Must demonstrate command of MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook necessary, Access strongly preferred)
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to propose actions, identify and illustrate opportunities, make recommendations and articulate financial impact of decisions to personnel at all levels of technical ability and expertise
  • Must demonstrate excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead a team and develop others
