Cardinal Health Senior Packaging Engineer in Mansfield, Massachusetts
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Package development and qualification of innovative packaging processes and designs as part of a cross functional new product development and sustaining engineering teams.Lead and support Quality and Regulatory remediation projects.Identify, lead and support packaging cost reduction or process improvements opportunities.Lead or assist new packaging equipment procurement process; generating user requirement specifications, factory acceptance test and validation of new packaging equipment.Support change control process by reviewing, creating, or updating packaging specifications and documentation.Provideguidance and assure compliance to packagingQuality and Regulatory standards thrufrequent interaction with project teams, manufacturing facilities, and contract manufacturers.Provide manufacturing support and expert services to various manufacturing facilities and contract manufacturers. These services to include troubleshooting, upgrade recommendations, process or package design optimizationLead continuous improvement projects within the Packaging department.Assure adherence of all corporate/plant policiesProvide work direction to lab technicians as required.Prepare monthly progress reports on projects.Travel (25 – 40%) will be required to include international travel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering or other Engineering discipline.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in Packaging operations for Medical Device Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or related industry. Working knowledge of packaging industry standards and regulations.
6-sigma Green Belt, Lean Manufacturing, Ability to prepare written policies, procedures, proposals and reports
Highly developed project management skills including formalized methodologies, highly polished written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of ASTM and ISTA package test standards is required.
Strong team and interpersonal skills, Results oriented and a strong customer focus. Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work independently (self-directed)
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE :
Provides leadership/ technical expertise and project support to several manufacturing sites and contract manufacturers. Responsible for the achievement of project goals to include project budget (when applicable), timeline, and operational considerations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles (below permissible OSHA exposure level), and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 50 lbs. or more. (5% of time)
