Job Description

This position has the responsibility for preparing accurate and timely cost accounting and variance information. Daily responsibilities include cost accounting reporting; variance analysis; account reconciliations and other account analysis as required. Perform annual standard cost development and continuous improvement and operational excellence coordination and analysis. This position will work directly under the direction of the Cost Accounting Manager Ensures that established procedures are being followed. The Cost Accountant will be involved in the inventory control process and all the inventory functions and analysis. This position will work closely with the production and operational plant personnel to improve financial information. This position is also involved in satisfying corporate requests and inquiries and any miscellaneous projects as assigned.

Accountabilities

  • Prepare and distribute the weekly indirect and direct labor reports and relative variance reporting. Prepare month end projections based on monthly trends.
  • Analyze standard cost variances related to material purchase price, material usage and labor utilization; prepare monthly summary reports; assist with development of standard cost variance forecasts and budgets.
  • Analyze and reconcile ERP perpetual inventory reports to ERP general ledger balances; assist with inventory reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, including valuation reserves.
  • Prepare and input journal entries as directed by finance managers. Reconcile general ledger accounts as respective to responsibilities.
  • Assist in the audit of inventory cycle counts to verify accuracy of perpetual inventory balances.
  • Prepare and distribute the daily, weekly and monthly financial reports to the manufacturing management team.
  • Assist in development of annual updates to ERP standard costs and inventory revaluation.
  • Assist in the assessment and testing of internal controls (Sarbanes Oxley) Assist in continuous improvement of SOP’s
  • Support the AP related activities still maintained at the plant location with intent to minimize exceptions.
  • Satisfy corporate requests and inquiries as well as other misc. projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • One to four years related experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and command of the most common computer software packages preferred.
  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis preferred.
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Products preferred.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data
