What SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting contributes to Cardinal Health

The SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting department is responsible for the company's compliance with SEC regulations and other regulatory requirements. The department also provides technical accounting support to the company's businesses through accounting research and establishment and enforcement of corporate accounting policies. In addition, the department is responsible for reviewing, communicating, and partnering with the business to implement new accounting literature.

Accountabilities

  • Prepares financial statements and footnote disclosures included in the company's 10-Q and 10-K filings with the SEC, which involves significant interaction with key contacts within the company's businesses and other functional areas (i.e., legal, tax, etc.)
  • Prepares financial statements and other schedules to be released as part of the quarterly earnings release. Responsible for ensuring accuracy and consistency between Investor Relations messaging and the company's SEC filings
  • Provides support to the company's businesses by assisting with the resolution of technical accounting issues, which involves reviewing and interpreting the relevant accounting literature and documenting the company's accounting conclusions
  • Assists with the implementation of new accounting literature and related internal controls throughout the company, which involves tracking the status of projects by the standard setting boards (i.e., the SEC, FASB, AICPA, EITF, etc.) from preliminary stages through issuance of a final standard or rule and assessing the accounting implications to the Company
  • Assists the Company's external auditors with the completion of their quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audit
  • Assists with the development of trainings on various technical topics for the company's finance department
  • Prepares quarterly materials for the audit committee (e.g., summary of significant balance sheet reserves, summary of out-of-period adjustments, etc.)
  • Performs the accounting function for international holding companies which includes preparing journal entries for intercompany loans and related interest, professional fees, and Fx transactions
  • Prepares balance sheet reconciliations
  • Special projects as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, preferably in Accounting
  • 4+ years of experience in related field
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA preferred
