What is OptiFreight Logistics? We save our customers money on shipments they’re already receiving today by providing a full service freight management program dedicated to reducing healthcare freight costs.

The responsibility and geographic area of the Account Management team continues to expand. And as healthcare organizations become more complex, so do their freight management needs. Cardinal Health OptiFreight® Logistics recognizes that our customers’ freight management needs are ever evolving and unique. That’s why we are creating the OptiFreight Logistics Resource Specialist role. This role is intended to support the OptiFreight Logistics business with the specific needs of these complex customers while driving volume and customer loyalty/retention.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams including Region Directors, Account Managers, Sales Executives, Operations, Customer Service, and Business Development while deployed to work on specific customer projects
  • Ability to learn and understand technical details and act as a subject matter expert for internal and external teams
  • Able to regularly be on-site if centrally located to customer or ability to travel to customers while working on specific projects
  • Partner with customer and local OptiFreight team to identify, develop and support freight program processes and goals
  • Support customer and local OptiFreight team to achieve freight program goals through freight analysis and optimization
  • Conduct Same Day/Courier assessments (to include Pharma/Lab) and provide output to Sales team
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for OptiFreight® Logistics sales leads and account managers who identify a prospect for Same Day Solutions
  • Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive view of the Same day Solutions sales pipeline from identification through win / close
  • Collaborates with Sales, Sales Operations, and Marketing to develop effective customer targeting strategies for Same Day Solutions
  • Works closely with Sales to understand key attributes of prospects; provides guidance to Sales on Same Day Solution positioning through an effective offering overview; periodically participates in or leads Same Day Solution presentations to prospects and customers via onsite meetings and conference calls
  • Provides training and coaching to Sales team on fundamentals of Same Day Solutions
  • Leads the discovery process with Same Day Solution prospects through tailored question development, data requests, and / or stakeholder interviews
  • Performs or supports the completion of onsite discovery assessments to validate customer needs, requirements, and current state of operations
  • Coordinates the exchange of current state operations, historical data, and customer needs / requirements to other Same Day Solutions team members for the completion of customer assessments and solution modeling
  • Demonstrates depth and breadth of project management experience
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and relevant clinical and IT operations
  • Anticipates project risks and develops mitigation strategies/plans for more complex risk factors
  • Resolves conflicts across project team members and customers without functional intervention
  • Supports the execution of Outbound growth strategies
  • Provide technical sales support to help close deals
  • Provide support to implementation team and ensure customer satisfaction with technology solution /product
  • Be engaged in the Product Stage & Gate process and provide feedback on potential new enhancements, improvements in process or customer experience.

  • Provide feedback in terms of solution improvement from a People , Process and Technology standpoint


  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 65% Nationwide
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience
  • Minimum 5 years working with large, complex organization (preferably in healthcare)
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to and interacting with customers on a regular basis including facilitation of meetings
  • Possess strong work ethic, self-motivated and able to operate independently with limited direct supervision, while also comfortable working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Results oriented, ensuring we deliver on commitments while also working to continuously improve processes
  • Strong listening and problem solving skills and ability to develop plans to improve process efficiency
  • Understand the difference and applications of various carriers (i.e. regionals vs. national vs. mail consolidation) and their shipping modes
  • Understand ancillary service needs (insurance, packaging, international customs, hazmat, temp control)
  • Experience in Transportation (to include Pharma and Lab), familiar with carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, Courier & Same Day) preferred
  • Analytical with experience identifying and addressing cost-savings and/or cost recovery opportunities with a proven record of achieving goals
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Access, Excel, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience in Project Management preferred
  • Experience working in large organizations (i.e. hospital integrated delivery networks (IDN) or enterprises)
