What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

  • Develops a repeatable production and service process that will meet & exceed our customer requirements through the use of Lean tools i.e. (VSM, PFMEA, Gage R&R, Control plan, STD Work).
  • Identifies core competences and opportunities for improvement through make vs. buy analysis (working with engineering & supply chain)
  • Leads supplier development: FAI’s & Continuous improvement activities
  • Maximizes efficiency by developing & analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization.
  • Leads the resolution of all our MFG, QA, MRB & FDA discrepancies.
  • Identifies & develops tooling / gaging needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of our Work instructions, DMR’s & QIP’s per our QA System requirements.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects
  • Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives
  • Completes work independently; receives general guidance on new projects
  • May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
  • Design, and lead projects in support of manufacturing processes designed to promote lean manufacturing, demand flow, work efficiency, and cost savings
  • Ensures the development of metrology programs according to regulations
  • Participate in new product project teams, providing design for manufacturing (Value Stream) input during the product design phase.
  • Promotes design for manufacturability and serviceability as well as other relevant industrial manufacturing or operational philosophies
  • Ensures and/or refines the cost estimating process in manufacturing engineering

Additional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering principles and technologies in electromechanical assemblies.
  • Independently develops new and troubleshoots moderately-complex manufacturing & Service processes and equipment
  • Independently analyzes moderately complex product designs for Manufacture, Assembly and Serviceability (DFMA/DFS)
  • Independently designs, executes and documents moderately complex FMEA, process validation and testing in accordance with cGMP's
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Lean tools such as 5S, Gemba, Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Takt Time. Minimum of Green bet Six Sigma certification or quantifiable experiences.
  • Confident self-starter supportive of cross-functional team environment, and development of best practices using six-sigma practices
  • Project leadership experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulation
  • Medical Device or healthcare experience a plus
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a customer oriented / work team mind set.
  • Self-motivated / directed, detail oriented and a proven history of ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
