What R & D Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Research and Development Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

Quali fications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or highly technical field related field required

  • A minimum of 8+ years related work experience required

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Previous experience with procedures conducted in cardiac and/or endovascular catheter lab
  • Ability to train and coach others from technical expertise
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills


This need is to help out with our balloon catheter and prototyping

  • Expertise in the development and testing of medical devices
  • Balloon catheter experience
  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures
  • Works on complex projects of large scope
  • Strong project management skills working with both internal and external teams
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects
  • Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives
  • Completes work independently receives general guidance on new projects
  • Supporting testing such as tensile, catheter performance testing (tracking, cross-ability, push-ability), compliance testing, etc. throughout the development process
  • 3D CAD drawings experience (knowledge of Solidworks preferred)
  • Analyze data using advanced statistical techniques (Minitab experience preferred) and communicate results to a cross-functional team
  • Utilize advanced experimental design methodologies with significant complexity and execute test protocols and reports to facilitate the design of the medical devices

  • Supporting the potential development of new test methods utilizing a high level of technical expertise

  • Support our intellectual property portfolio through generation and support of novel ideas and product concepts
  • Document research and development process through lab notebooks and/or through our design control processes
