Materials Management is responsible for the management of material inventory levels to ensure that raw material components and manufactured products are available when needed to satisfy the plant and customer requirements. Responsibilities include the planning and procurement of material components to minimize obsolescence and overstock situations while achieving maximum customer service levels

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience preferred
  • 3+ years experience in a supervisory/management role preferred
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred

Position Summary

Oversight of all planning, purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and sterilization activities at the Norfolk plant.

Resposibilities

  • Responsible for oversight of planning, scheduling, and expediting all plant production in line with master schedule, and for control and requisitioning of material sufficient to meet production requirements, thereby satisfying customer requirements.
  • Review periodic summaries and recaps, make evaluations and analysis of monthly inventory balances and physical inventory when required and see that good sound rules of inventory control are adhered to.
  • Review actual production results in relation to schedule, and take such steps as necessary to eliminate potential bottlenecks; make schedule revisions to enable production of special items, and arrange for any special or additional material involved.
  • Monitor to see that proper shipping, receiving and warehousing procedures are being followed and that customer orders are being filled properly.
  • Responsible for the assigning, control and follow through of lot numbers for each unit of production going through the production process. Maintain necessary records and prepare reports for lot control.
  • Ensure that sterilization of finished goods is performed to a planned schedule.
  • Break down total product requirements by types and determine the quantities of raw materials, component parts, sub-assemblies and packaging materials needed, taking into account the current available inventory, projected sales, and required inventory.
  • Prepare and implement required policies and procedures, instructions and systems to move material through manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining sufficient inventory for economical manufacture.
  • Recommend and maintain assigned budget levels.
  • Perform normal supervisory functions.
  • Direct material handling, parts, storage, and a variety of clerical duties; review periodic summaries and recaps; evaluate and analyze monthly inventory balances and semi-annual physical inventory
  • Review overhead expense reports and maintain departmental expenditures within budget. Assist in preparation of departmental budget. Participate in meetings scheduled by management.
  • Monitor departmental compliance with EEO rules, GMP regulations, OSHA General Industry Standards and Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Maintain good employee relations in a union free environment; enforce good housekeeping, safety, and other company rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
