What Account Management - Distribution contributes to Cardinal Health

Account Management is responsible for managing the success of the relationship with an assigned set of customers in order to achieve the goals and objectives identified by the customer and Cardinal Health. Responsible for long-term relationship building between the customer, Cardinal Health, and other professional organizations (Group Purchasing Organizations, etc). The complexity of the solution, product, or services offered is variable and can range from simple to moderately complex selling.

Accountabilities in this role

  • Manage Account Management reps to ensure flawless service to customers
  • Focus on customer retention of the channel
  • Identify new channel wins within assigned territory
  • Coordinate and support Account Management reps to meet or exceed account expectations (through coaching, ride-alongs, etc.)
  • Build and maintain long-term trusted advisor relationships with key decision makers and ensure customer retention of the channel
  • Responsible for the RFP process
  • Conduct performance evaluations of Account Management reps and provide them ongoing coaching (e.g., setting account strategies, negotiating contracts and managing service delivery)
  • Conduct regional business reviews on a regular basis
  • Hunt for new channel within assigned territory


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Demonstrate advance knowledge of CAH and customer industry (e.g., key competitors, technology, terminology, regulations)
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to retain customers and ensure high customer satisfaction rating
  • Ability to motivate and manage a geographically dispersed labor force and develop talent
  • Ability to hunt for new opportunities
  • 6-10 years healthcare sales experience, preferred
  • Ability to travel
  • Excellent planning, forecasting, negotiation and presentation skills
